Bing - Smoky Bacon Chips

These are nice curls of bacon goodness. The packaging is a refreshing white and red colour scheme that catches your eye.

I was pleasantly surprised when I poured the chips out and they did look like miniature bacon rashers. So visuals are there.

Taste-wise they are definitely smoky and bacony. But you do need to munch through a few to get the full flavour. Not salty or overpowering. So good choice for snacking while watching TV. Don't get too thirsty. No residue left on your fingers.

These chips also had a good crunch. The only complaint I had was that they were a little light and insubstantial on the tongue. But that is a minor quibble.

Overall I would rate these a 7/10. Good looking and tasting chip. I would recommend.

Bika - Honey Prawn Flavoured Crackers

These are nice bite sized curls of sweet prawn flavour. They come out of the packet a little shiny which hints at the sweet honey coating. There is an initial sweet hit but the main flavour is the prawn and it ends with a hint of spicy aftertaste.

The crackers have a satisfying crunch and definitely snackable. Though I would pair with a nice drink as got a bit thirsty eating them.
My sister suggests pairing them with blue cheese.

Overall I would rate it a 6/10

JENYOWE SNACK- Spicy Flavor

Photo of the packaging.

These are crispy curls of cuttlefish snack. The packaging has a picture of a Chili pepper and flaming Chinese characters, which raised my expectations about the spiciness. In actual fact there is a strong initial heat but it sort of mellows out. Maybe my mouth went a little numb. Hehehe. I would classify it as medium to hot spiciness.

To be truthful there isn't much of a cuttlefish flavour. The heat dominates but they are still munchable.

Overall nice snack but needs more flavour.

Calbee - Honey BBQ Chicken Wings Potato Chips

The photo on this packaging was very evocative of street food and BBQ chicken wings. I was intrigued if they would be able to pull it off.

These are thin cut potato chips. They have a good crispy texture and nice savoury flavour. Not greasy or salty.

These are better than standard BBQ chips and are recommended. Not too exotic but has an Asian flavour.

Cornae - American Corn Snack - Cheese Flavour

My wife picked these up at a I think Thai grocery. Looks interesting from the packaging with what looks like a hypnotic pattern.

Here is photo of the packaging.

Now one with model eating it to get an idea of relative size.

These are small cone shaped corn chips. More like soft yellow witches hats. Not as crispy or crunchy as traditional corn chips. The cheese flavour isn't very strong either. The texture reminds me the Kellogs cereal "Crispix". Very light and munchable.

I was a little skeptical about this snack. Not sure what to expect, but it wasn't too bad. Nothing spectacular but satisfactory.

Orion - O!Karto - Potato Chips - Italian Gratin flavour

This had a jolly chef on the packaging hugging a bucket of these potato chips. My wife was raving about these because she used to eat these all the time when she was studying. So I decided to give them a go.

These are potato chips shaped as if they were thick cut fries. But are actually crispy and hollow. They aren't very crunchy or overpowering. I'm not sure what Italian Gratin is supposed to taste like, but it is very subtle. The taste of potato really comes through. I think the strange shape helps here as they aren't dense or greasy.

A very pleasant snack which I would recommend. Nice potato flavour and good to munch on.

Miaow Miaow - Chicken Flavoured Crackers

These crackers were promising a lot from the packaging. With the picture of a nice roast chicken on the front. Got my tastebuds salivating.

These are small fluffy pillows of chicken flavour. They are really light and crunchy. The chicken flavour isn't overpowering but it is satisfying. These snacks would really work as popcorn replacement in a cinema. They are bite-sized and easy to handle. Not greasy nor too salty.

I did get a little thirsty while eating them and I guess they would work well with a soft drink or beer.

I was pleasantly surprised by these crackers. Much better than I expected.

Ka-Ka - Top Quality Lobster Shape Crackers

These are very large on the shelves. They have an interesting tube-like packaging which I assume was to help keep the crackers intact.

Here is a photo of the packaging

They are very large thin crackers. When I say large. I mean it. You almost need three bites to eat a whole cracker! They have a sweet powdery coating and nice lobster flavouring. They are also extremely crispy and a little fragile. So snap easily.

I was pleasantly surprised by these crackers. Much more than I expected. Nice flavour and large crispy crackers. The only complaint is that there aren't that many in the package. You run out of these delicious crackers too quickly. Need to buy more!

Overall I would give them a 8/10

Tao Kae Noi - Crispy Seaweed - Tom Yum Goong flavour

Here are another version of the seaweed strips. Let's see if they are better than the last one.

Here is a photo of the packaging

Here is with the strips on a plate

Now a model eating them to get an idea of relative size

These are thin dark-green seaweed strips. The colour is very deep and you can feel a lot of powdery coating on each strip. A very savoury flavour and you can really taste the sharpness from the lime. It also has a lingering heat from the chilli. I would rate it a mild to hot spiciness. It is also a bit on the salty side. Which could go well with a cold drink.

These seaweed strips feel thicker and more flavoursome than other seaweed strips, even from same company. So they are more satisfying on the tongue, though really do need to pair with a drink as will make you thirsty.

Overall I would rate this 8/10

Hanami - Snack Jack - Green Pea Snack - Chicken Habanero flavour

There seemed too much going on on this packaging and I just had to find out if it all went together.

Here is a photo of packaging

Here another with the twists on a plate

Now a model eating them to get an idea of relative size

These are little brown twists. From what I can gather from the packaging, they are made from green peas. They are coated in a very spicy powder. Initially it isn't too bad but the chilli really kicks in after eating a few. So be warned. I would rate it as quite spicy. I was sweating while eating these.

The packaging also promised chicken flavouring and you can taste a subtle chicken flavour. But not that strong. I suspect this snack to go well with a cool beer especially to combat the spiciness.

Overall happy with this snack. My wife in particular enjoys spicy foods. So thumbs up from her. As for me, I would try again but have a nice drink to go with it.

Calbee - Hot and Spicy - Potato chips

My wife recommended these to me. She seemed very insistent that I try them.

These are very surprisingly large potato chips. These orange chips are very crispy and are covered in an interesting flavouring. I can't quite pin down the taste but from looking at the ingredients it says soy. The packaging also said Hot and Spicy. Honestly the chips aren't that hot or spicy. There is a warm chilli heat which is quite nice as it spreads over your mouth. I'd rate it as mild spiciness.

Overall. These were a good chip with interesting flavour. Crunchy and not greasy at all.

7/10

Nong Shim - Shrimp Meat Chip

I have seen these at every Asian Grocery I have been in. So you should not have any problem in getting hold of some.

Here is a shot of the packaging.

These are light coloured chips with very subtle flavour. I wouldn't describe these chips as very crunchy or crispy. They are lighter and more puffed up. So more like what you would expect to get as an appetiser at an Asian restaurant. The chip sort of dissolves on the tongue after a couple of satisfying chews.

The shrimp flavour isn't very strong but is very pleasing and lasts on the tongue for a long time after the chip is gone. So good value there. There is some residue left on the fingers but it isn't sticky or staining. So not a big deal.

I truly enjoy munching on these chips and they are my go to snack at an Asian Grocery. Nice subtle flavour and satisfying volume to munch on.

9/10

Snak Ku - ShoyueMi - Spicy flavour

I must be attracted to bright red packaging. This looked interesting with looks like a yellow guy breathing fire with this spicy snack. So I'm expecting it to be pretty spicy.

These are short wavy strips of noodle. Think like dried 2 minute instant noodles. They have a nice slightly sweet soy flavour. But not too strong. Not salty either. There is an initial chilli spike but it doesn't last. I would rate this as not spicy at all. A little disappointing.

This is an interesting snack and different from what I expected but not too bad. The packaging also promises crunchy and crispy and it delivers on that. Very crunchy and crispy.

Overall am happy with this snack. Got something else than I expected but still good.

Oriental - Super Ring - Cheese Flavoured Snacks

The packaging said Super and had a picture of a robot boy. So I was expecting a Super Punch of flavour.

Here is a photo of the packaging.

Here it is open with rings on a plate.

Now a model is eating it so you can get an idea of relative size.

These are fluorescent orange rings. They have a slightly sweet cheese flavour. Though I wouldn't call them particularly cheesy. They are similar in taste to cheezels but aren't as crunchy or heavy as cheezels. The flavour also doesn't last and will need to continue eating to keep taste going. The rings are powdery and will leave an orange stain on your fingers after extended snacking. The only positive about these rings is that they are bite-sized and easy to munch on.

Nothing much Super about this snack, meh on flavour and not crunchy. Also a little messy to eat. Disappointing.

Overall I would rate this a 2/10

Jack and Jill - Potato Chips - Unagi Kabayaki flavour

This looked very interesting and colourful on the shelf. So I decided to give it a go.

These come is an interesting packaging. It is actually come with a smaller pack inside with the potato chips and also a flavour sachet. You open it and empty the chips into larger pack, pour in flavouring and then seal up again. Then shake!

The potato chips are thin and crispy but the flavouring isn't very exciting. It does have a smoky BBQ flavour but can't really taste the eel. (Unagi is Japanese for Eel)

So a little disappointing as expected more of a flavour punch. Especially after having to do all that shaking. Not much different from BBQ flavoured chips at ordinary supermarket.

Overall it is acceptable but there are better chips out there.

5/10

Tao Kae Noi - Super Crisp Grilled Seaweed - Hot Chilli Squid flavour

I felt like something different today. So went for seaweed after my brother's suggestion.

Here is a photo of the packaging

Now a model is eating it so you can get an idea of relative size.

These are dark-green paper thin seaweed trips with a nice crunch. The flavour is very savoury with a little bit of sweetness. Not salty at all. Also no seaweed or sea taste. It does have some chili heat but it isn't overpowering. I would rate it as mild spiciness.

The only complaint I would have is that the strip sort of dissolves as you are chewing it. So doesn't feel very substantial. Which makes you go back for more or eat more than one strip at a time. But then that is probably by design hehehe.

Note: The pack is re-sealable to keep the seaweed crisp if storing away after opening. Though I predict you will finish it all in one sitting :-)

Overall I would rate it a 7/10

Miaow Miaow - Udangmas - Prawn Crackers

I picked these up at my local Asian Grocery. Looked enticing from the packaging and large picture of a red prawn. So expectations were high.

Here is a photo of the packet.

These were quite crunchy and good prawn flavour. The size of crackers were good sized to be snacking on. The colour is a little darker than the packaging suggested, but that does not impact the taste.

Overall happy with the experience and would purchase again.
